Hi!  I'm Jessie!

Hi, I’m Jessie!  I am one of ROAN’s Visitation Specialists.  I started at ROAN in August of 2022 as a Bachelor's-level intern, officially joining the team in April of 2023.  I earned my associate in human services, Bachelor of Social Work from Aurora University, and am currently working to obtain my Master of Social Work from AU as well.  I chose to work in this field because I want to help kids find the love the deserve. Social work has always been a strong passion of mine.  I love being in the social work field because I feel like I can really make a difference, even if it’s just for one child, one family, or one person.

My favorite part of being at ROAN is that I get to help parents see their children in a safe and comfortable environment.  This allows parents to see their children grow, creating a new bond with them.  I love that ROAN makes the environment feel like a home for these families and does everything they can to help reunite families.  I also appreciate being able to watch the parents grow.  Overall, I want to do what is best for the children while at the same time helping their parents get to where they need to be.

Since working at ROAN, I’ve realized that there are a lot more people that need help than you might realize if you were not working in this field.  I think that an important aspect of the helping relationship is being honest and understanding.  I believe that having sympathy and empathy for others goes a long way.  I believe people should be treated with respect and given a chance to make things right.

Fun Facts: I married my husband in 2022 but we’ve been together since 2012.  I also love tattoos! In my free time, I like to hang out with my dog; hang out with family and friends; take naps; and watch funny dog videos.
