Hello!  I'm Julie.

Hi, I’m Julie! I am ROAN’s Parenting and Visitation Team Leader, as well as a Parent Support Specialist. I’ve been at ROAN since April of 2021, ever since the doors to the Visitation Home opened. I have over 20 years of experience in the social work field, graduating from Northern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in Family and Social Services. I’ve worked with children in many different areas – daycares, preschools, after school programs, and being an advocate for child survivors.

My favorite part of being at ROAN is having the opportunity to help others see their full potential. My passion lies in the social services field. There are so many ways you can help others and trying to empower parents, give them the tools to be stronger, and help reunite families is rewarding. I love what ROAN has accomplished. We have given families the opportunities to be a family again; cook meals together, play games, play with toys, engage with each other, and grow together in a comfortable, home-like atmosphere. We have given so many families the chance to flourish and it is heartwarming when they move on and into more traditional parenting time.

My approach to helping children and families is being nurturing and supportive. I can be understanding, but parents must take accountability for their own choices. I want to see parents succeed. Parenting is hard, but if we can give parents tools and support, it can become easier.

Fun Facts:

I’ve completed all 3 of my life goals; swimming with dolphins, learning to surf in Hawaii, and having kids. Motherhood is one of my greatest accomplishments. I taught myself how to crochet and play the ukulele. I also enjoy listening to crime podcasts, being crafty, and baking. In my free time, I enjoy going hiking; being creative; watching documentaries or cheesy Hallmark movies; and gardening.
